In 2009, Norway thrived in the Eurovision Contest, scoring the HIGHEST ever score received in a contest, beating the previous record set by Lordi in 2006 (Finland). Lordi got a very respectable 292, coming first, beating 2nd place by 44 points. (2nd is Eurovision's very own Dima Bilan!) However, this record was to be beat by Alexander Rybak. Rybak received a giant 387 points, beating Lordi's record by 95 points. However, Rybak, to date, hasn't received the most 12 points, Loreen, the winner of 2012, currently holds that record.But did Fairytale win because the song also good enough to win was held back through politics?
